6. Specific goals for the course

  1. specific outcomes of instruction (e.g. The student will be able to explain the significance of current research about a particular topic.)
    1. CLO1 Analyze fluid flow constraints and calculate pressure losses to define engineering specifications for piping systems.
    2. CLO2 Evaluate pump performance curves (series/parallel) and establish criteria for optimal pump selection based on system trade-offs.
    3. CLO3 Develop and compare alternative piping system configurations to ensure Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH) and cavitation prevention.
    4. CLO4 Develop engineering designs for hot water and steam piping networks and evaluate their overall system performance.
  2. explicitly indicate which of the student outcomes listed in Criterion 3 or any other outcomes are addressed by the course.
ABET Student Outcome (SO) Listed in Criterion 3 Performance indicator
SO2 an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
    • PI-21 Formulate the problem (identify the “need”) and analyze constraints
    • PI-22 Establish appropriate criteria for evaluating potential solutions and tradeoffs
    • PI-23 Generate alternative solutions
    • PI-24 Build an engineering design and analyze the design performance
