Understand the types, properties, and applications of construction materials used in civil engineering, including Portland cement and hydraulic cement; types of Portland cement and hydraulic cement; aggregates; properties of fresh and hardened concrete; admixtures; concrete mix proportion design; structural steel; steel manufacturing processes and properties; basic design of steel structural members; wood materials; types and properties of wood; factors affecting wood properties; basic design of timber structural members; masonry materials; asphaltic materials; and the fundamental concepts of durability and sustainability of construction materials. - prerequisites or co-requisites
