6. Specific goals for the course

  1. specific outcomes of instruction (e.g. The student will be able to explain the significance of current research about a particular topic.)
    1. CLO1 CLO1: Analyze and model dynamic behavior of chemical processes using transfer functions and frequency response methods, and evaluate control loop performance through theoretical and simulation-based approaches (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
    2. CLO2 CLO2: Design and implement process control systems—incorporating feedback, feedforward, and advanced control strategies—using process control instrumentation (PCI) and programmable logic controllers (PLC) to achieve safe and efficient operation that meets specified performance and regulatory standards.
    3. CLO3 CLO3: Demonstrate awareness of ethical and professional responsibilities by assessing the environmental, economic, and safety impacts of process control strategies and by applying appropriate standards and codes of practice in engineering design and operation.
    4. CLO4 CLO4: Integrate and apply modern control technologies—including PLC communication, data logging, and visualization tools—to analyze, optimize, and improve process performance, demonstrating the ability to acquire and apply new knowledge through project-based learning.
  2. explicitly indicate which of the student outcomes listed in Criterion 3 or any other outcomes are addressed by the course.
ABET Student Outcome (SO) Listed in Criterion 3 Performance indicator
SO2 an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
